Our dear Russian colleague, Lydia Popova, has passed away. Lydia has been our colleague for more than 10 years, doing invaluable work on a number of subjects connected with nuclear safety issues and other energy related issues.
The Rosatom Public Council session which took place on 28th February was dedicated to the review of suggestions made by the non-governmental organisations regarding the concept of decommissioning of nuclear power units that have currently passed their operating lifetimes.
Moscow, 29 February 2008: the concept of a plan for staged decommissioning of Russian NPPs was presented in Rosatom by the international network of environmental NGOs.
780 organizations and almost 800.000 individuals from all European countries have signed the petition against nuclear power in Europe. The petition was handed over to EU-energy commissioner Andris Piebalgs in April 2007.
"Nuclear Taj Mahal" a simulator centre for Indian nuclear submariners will start operation in September 2005 on the South coast of the Gulf of Finland in t. Sosnovy Bor (80 km West of St. Petersburg).
On December 22, 2004 a sociologist Olga Tsepilova from the St. Petersburg Sociological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SI RAS) made the report for the Board of Inspectors under the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights (Vladimir Lukin).
